Domaine Marchand-Grillot is the result of a beautiful union in 1950 between the Marchand family of Morey-Saint-Denis and the Grillot family of Gevrey-Chambertin. Today, the estate is in the capable hands of the seventh generation, with Etienne Marchand leading the winemaking and his sister Marion managing the domaine.
The family cultivates 9 hectares across 47 different plots, maintaining a philosophy of "savoir-faire au naturel." They prioritise sustainable viticulture, manual harvesting, and minimal intervention in the cellar, using indigenous yeasts and very limited sulfites to ensure the wine truly speaks of its terroir.

The Wine: En Jouise Gevrey-Chambertin 2023

The "En Jouise" climat is situated on the lower slopes of Gevrey-Chambertin, where the vines benefit from deep, limestone-rich soils that impart a characteristic structure and mineral edge.

Colour: A deep, scintillating ruby with brilliant clarity, typical of high-quality Pinot Noir from a successful vintage.

Aroma: The nose is beautifully intense and enveloping. Expect a charming bouquet of fresh red fruits, wild strawberry, raspberry, and dark cherry, interwoven with subtle spicy notes of nutmeg and a hint of vanilla pod.

Taste: On the palate, the wine is silky and concentrated. The 2023 vintage brings a wonderful "juiciness" to the mid-palate, showcasing ripe black cherry and currant flavors. It is structurally sound with polished tannins and a hallmark Gevrey rusticity that provides a firm, iron-tinged mineral finish.

Food Pairing

This is a wine that demands a seat at the dinner table. Its intensity and silky texture make it a versatile companion for:

Classic Pairings: Roast duck, goose, or game birds like pheasant.
Hearty Dishes: A succulent fillet steak or a traditional Beef Bourguignon.
Local Flavours: Mature cheeses or dishes featuring earthy mushrooms.
